The rate at which degradation and deforestation is taking place in Uganda, It is projected that
the country could lose it’s entire forest cover by 2050 if the trend is not managed well. Because agriculture is the back bone of the country, and coupled with rampant charcoal burning, and settlement, and conserving that over 90% of the country’s households use wood fuel for cooking, forest loss remains one of the biggest challenges that Uganda faces. Therefore, Machika Foundation shall work with communities to promote projects that aim to tackle deforestation in Uganda and improve the health of women and children, and empower and build the capacity of communities to implement environment projection activities: These will include building the capacities of communities to plant trees and restore natural habitats through:
  • Conservation education.
  • Recycling waste products.
  • Forest and wetland conservation and restoration
  • Clean and energy-saving technologies among others
